Yashasvi Jaiswal’s dismissal turned into a heated moment during India’s second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo. The Indian opener fell for 45 against Asitha Fernando. Fernando produced a sharp delivery that beat Jaiswal’s defence and disturbed the stumps. He then celebrated with an animated send-off, which did not go down well with the Indian batter. Jaiswal initially walked away before turning back towards the Sri Lankan pacer. The two exchanged angry words and came face-to-face. The situation became tense as they appeared to make head contact. Sri Lankan captain Dhananjaya de Silva quickly stepped in and separated them. Other players also moved towards the pair as tempers threatened to boil over.

The incident came during an otherwise strong batting effort from India. The visitors won the toss and chose to bat first at the Sinhalese Sports Club. India reached 215/3 after 59.5 overs, in the third session of the match. Devdutt Padikkal was unbeaten on 79, while Rishabh Pant was retired hurt after scoring 3 runs . Shubman Gill had also made a composed 50 before Fernando dismissed him. Earlier, KL Rahul fell for 18, leaving India 66/2 when Jaiswal departed. India entered the Test after winning the first match in Galle by 165 runs. The team is now pushing for a series sweep. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka will hope Fernando’s late spell gives them some momentum.

Rishabh Pant gets retired hurt after wrist injury during second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo 

Indian wicketkeeper-batsmanRishabh Pant had to leave the field after taking a painful blow to his wrist during India’s second Test against Sri Lanka. The incident happened in the 58th over at Colombo’s SSC Ground. Lahiru Kumara bowled a short delivery, and Pant went for the pull. He could only glove the ball, which struck his wrist. The batter immediately looked uncomfortable and called for medical attention. The Indian physio came out and checked the injury. An ice pack was then applied to Pant’s wrist. After spending some time on the field, he decided he could not continue. Pant walked back to the dressing room retired hurt, with Ravindra Jadeja coming in to bat.

The setback came at a crucial stage for India. The visitors were 215/3 after 59.5 overs when Pant left the field. Devdutt Padikkal was batting alongside him before the injury forced a change.
