India has a real knack of producing talented and skilled fast bowlers every now and again and then after playing for the national side for a few seasons, the same talent somewhere goes missing. That’s not necessarily or entirely a cricketer being in real poor or low form but perhaps largely down the reason that a string of injuries and the constant struggle to find a place in the ranks of the Indian national team isn’t always an easy thing to contend with.
It comes with a lot of breaking of the back, not in the literal sense, but managing workload and then to contest with incessant competition that many a talented and really skilled bowler suddenly goes missing and can’t be found.
This has happened in the past to the likes of Navdeep Saini and in the more recent times, with a certain Mukesh Kumar: a promising and game changing fast bowler that is today known more for his association with the Delhi Capitals than for his place in the Indian team where he hadn’t found a space in the last 24 months or so.
But all of that said, there’s also a promising development for the noted fast bower who hails from Bihar. He will be playing competitive county cricket in England for 2026 English County Championship season where he’ll be associated with the Nottinghamshire side.
Here’s an excerpt of his own statement carried in a news report published in the Times of India that happened to share the following about the right arm fast medium bowler’s recent cricketing challenge:
“I am really pleased to sign for Nottinghamshire at an important time in the season. I can’t wait to arrive in England and test myself in county cricket. I want to contribute as much as I can while I am here to help Nottinghamshire to success, and I am looking forward to working with the coaches and my new teammates!”
But while that’s the real great chance for Mukesh Kumar to reignite his spark in the game what is also a bit of a concern is that despite all of that talent he’s just played 26 international contests for the country. And he’s 32 year old.
