Adam Zampa, the first choice leg-spinner for Australia in white-ball cricket, wants to change the people’s perception. Speaking to Cricket Australia he said that he wanted to be a regular test bowler for Australia’s sub continent tours.
The leg-spinner told that he has improved a lot in recent years and his ultimate goal is to earn the baggy green cap.
“I feel like the last 12 months have been a really good test for me and I’ve come out of it pretty well. I’ve still got the goal to play Test cricket for sure,” said Zampa.
Want to change people’s perceptions
Adam Zampa has played a lot of white-ball cricket for Australia in last three or four years and delivered consistent performances.
Since he is always prioritised for the selection in limited over cricket and two T20 world cup is going to be held in two successive years, it is not very tough to guess that the Kangaroo leg spinner will be very busy in his national duty.
However, Adam Zampa is keen to change people’s perception about him being a limited over specialist.
“Over the last few years it’s been really easy to pinpoint me as a white-ball bowler, I’ve played most white-ball games for Australia over the past three or four years, so it has really limited my first-class opportunities.”
“I want to change people’s perceptions,” added the 28-year-old.
Playing Test cricket is my ultimate goal
While Zampa already admitting himself that his first class record doesn’t speak for him, he also maintained that he has improved a lot in past few years as a bowler.
“My first-class record doesn’t really speak for itself but I think over the past three years while I haven’t been playing first-class cricket I’ve really improved as a bowler.
He also believes that he cannot changes the perception overnight but will push himself higher to earn a spot in test matches as it’s the ultimate goal for him.
I’m looking to still get that Baggy Green, that’s my ultimate goal,” Zampa emphasisized.
