The Tottenham talisman and the captain of the England national team is in his prime of his career. With the Spurs side potentially on the decline, Will Harry Kane leave Tottenham to harbor his trophy ambitions ?
When the fans talk about world class strikers, there is always a mention about Harry Kane. Harry Kane has established himself as a lethal and consistent strikers in the Premier League over the past decade. Harry Kane started his playing career with Norwich City in the Premier League before eventually moving to Tottenham Hotspur where he still plies his side.
Harry Kane rose to prominence under the tutelage of Mauricio Pochettino where he transformed to one of the finest centre-forwards in the country and became a fan favorite. Equally adept with both feet, Kane has amassed 136 goals in his 201 appearances in the Premier League. He is a two time recipient of the golden boot in the Premier League and also won the golden boot in the recently concluded FIFA World Cup in Russia in 2018.
Will Harry Kane leave Tottenham, finally?
Kane’s style of play ensures that he offers more than just goals to his team. Kane often drops deep into midfield allowing midfielders and wingers to make runs off him and Kane often has the vision to spot their runs. He is equally adept at dealing with long balls, holding up play and drawing fouls. His work rate and work ethic is second to none and all of these traits have made the footballing world take notice.
Kane in a recent interview with Harry Redknapp stated the following “I love Spurs, I’ll always love Spurs but I’ve always said if I don’t feel we’re progressing as a team or going in the right direction, I’m not someone to stay there for the sake of it.”
There are a few interesting points to consider which could decide if Kane moves from the club or not.
1. Financial situation of Spurs:
The club have recently built a new stadium for which they owe £637m and £83m for the transfers. The club have also been hit by a major drop in the revenue due to their early elimination from this season’s UEFA Champions League and a decrease in revenue from the Premier League games this decade. This could force Daniel Levy to consider selling Kane to offset the losses.
2. Jose Mourinho’s influence:
The current Spurs manager Jose Mourinho is a serial winner having won accolades in Portugal, Spain, Italy and England. Spurs currently require two more signings to become title contenders especially after the departure of play maker of Christian Eriksen to Inter Milan. With Jose Mourinho’s reputation and his admiration for Harry Kane, his influence could be paramount in influencing the England captain’s decision. If Jose was to brief Kane about his transfer plans and his intention for Spurs, Kane could consider staying back in Spurs and finishing his four year contract
3. Kane’s Price Tag
Kane aged 26, has a massive price tag of £200m which will ensure that he would become the third most expensive transfer in the history of football. Daniel Levy is known to be shrewd businessman which makes him one of the toughest people to negotiate in the footballing world.
The global pandemic has ensured that even the biggest of the clubs are being faced by major losses which could make the asking price a major deterrent for the transfer.
4. Clubs interested in buying Kane
Elite clubs like Manchester United could possibly meet the asking price in the Premier League. Spanish giants Real Madrid have pulled out of the transfer owing to the hefty price tag, which leaves Manchester United favorites to land him. Manchester United is a club also in transition like Spurs and would require two signings more before they can challenge for the Premier League. This could also be a factor in influencing Kane’s decision to move on from Spurs.
The transfer saga of Kane lightens up almost every summer and considering the sheer quality he possesses, Kane would certainly be an asset to any club he decides to commit his future to.
