The highest paid IPL Captains of 2026

Usually speaking when we think of the Indian Premier League, we think of the blazing hits the glamorous shots, the big heaves and the amazing wickets over the bowling spells. Not a lot is reserved to appreciate the candour, confidence, skills, mindset, and ultimately, the impact that the captains create. We have to admit that the role of a captain is second where it comes to contests like the IPL. The success of greats like MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma in the past have shown that how central has been the role of an IPL Captain where it comes to garnering success. Haven’t we? Which also explains why the captains are so highly paid in this league.

Having said that, let us try and as to who the highest paid IPL captains of 2026, edition were?

Riyan Parag- 14 cr

Right now, he might be injured, but that does little to take away the fact that Ryan Parag lead an exceptionally talented and on the whole, young team reasonably well with some commendable success that came Rajasthan Royals’ way in the 2026 edition of the IPL.

He might have struggled with the initial stages of the IPL, but as a tournament wore on, his form did not. It didn’t wither away.

A tactical and thinking captain who pulled on the pressure and choked the runs on the opponent of RR by bringing his best bowlers to play, he was extremely appreciative of the tremendous opening pair of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal and threw all his weight behind them.

At 14 crores, Parag remains one of the highest paid IPL captains and boy doesn’t he deserve that?

Hardik Pandya- 16.35 cr

It really wasn’t a tournament that went his way. In fact, it was a tournament to forget. Both as Captain and as a player, Pandya has seen happier days, but they belong to the past. As a matter of fact, IPL 2026 was a complete disaster for him and his Mumbai Indians franchise. Yet Pandya remains a highly valuable asset in the Indian Premier League on the whole, and it’s considered a good overall Captain.

That’s even if a lot about his captaincy failed to inspire and failed to draw home a point for the famous MI franchise.

In all Pandya picked just four wickets and that’s about it. And what’s more? He did not fire a single half century when runs were so desperately needed from his bat. But you could say that for all the wealth of experience that he possesses and for his remarkable leadership as seen back in the day, he still considered a good Captain.

He remains without much doubt one of the highest paid IPL captains in 2026 season with a whopping INR 16.3 cr worth of salary.

Rishabh Pant- 27 cr

There have been great successes that have come Rishabh Pant’s way, but all of that have happened in the past. The last two seasons in the IPL haven’t really gone his way. have they? To have emerged as one of the teams far-flung from success and then to have emerged as the bottom dwellers as far as the IPL table is concerned was adding insult to injury.

Answer from my personal standpoint, the runs just did not come to Rishabh Pant. What’s more? Never moments in which he seemed completely clueless, and perhaps a bit desperate to prove his worth to his team owners at the Lucknow franchise. Enhance some choices exchanges, including words that he would have been wise enough to avoid.

But things happen in Cricket. Much like success, desperate times also occur. In the end, what was feared exactly what happened and perhaps it happened for good.

One of the highest paid IPL captains with a salary of 27CR, Rishabh Pant abdicated the post of Lucknow SuperGiants, and his resignation was even accepted, not long after he served his intimation or note.

Shreyas Iyer- 26.75 cr

He is courageous. He is bold. And he always likes to lead by an example. That’s pretty much exactly what Shreyas Iyer did of the Punjab Kings for the most part of this season. He even hit a century when it most mattered and was the brainchild behind the aggressive opening pair of Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh.

A massively talented batter and someone who forms a key pivot of Indian Cricket at present, Shreyas Iyer happens to be among the highest paid IPL captains with a salary of INR 26.7 cr.

Pat Cummins- 18 cr

For someone who wasn’t even the captain for the entirety of the IPL 2026 season Pat did pretty well to lead his side to reach the decisive end of the tournament as his Hyderabad side reached the PlayOff stage of the tournament this year.

He was particularly economical with the ball and lead his troops brilliantly for as best as he could even as Hyderabad went down fighting in the backend of what was a long and grinding season.

And Pat Cummins, the lanky all rounder did perform to the best of his abilities inspiring his team to play hard and aggressive even as they went down fighting. He happens to be one of the highest paid IPL captains of the 2026 season with a salary at 18 cr.
