Juventus, Inter Milan, Atalanta and Lazio are almost certain to play in the Champions League next season, while Roma, Napoli and AC Milan are fighting for the two Europa League places.
At the other end of the table, SPAL are already relegated and Brescia are set to follow them, with the likes of Lecce, Genoa, Udinese and Torino desperate to avoid the third and final spot.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at our Serie A Team of the Week for gameweek 34. The formation used for this team is 4-2-4.
Goalkeeper: Jesse Joronen (Brescia)
Jesse Joronen displayed a goalkeeping masterclass against SPAL as he helped Brescia to a 2-1 win at the Mario Rigamonti Stadium by making the highest number of saves (5) and recoveries in the game (13). If not for the Finland international, Brescia wouldn’t have been able to survive the onslaught from SPAL, who will be playing in Serie B next season.
Right-back: Davide Calabria (AC Milan)
Davide Calabria, who is considered as one of the most promising young full-backs in Italy, has, however, often struggled with injuries. But the former Italian Under-21 international was at his rampant best in AC Milan‘s 5-1 drubbing of Bologna. Besides scoring his first Serie A goal of the season, the 23-year-old made the second-highest number of tackles (3) in the game.
Centre-back: Stefan De Vrij (Inter Milan)
Stefan de Vrij has been in fine form for Inter Milan since joining on a free transfer from Lazio in the summer of 2018. The Netherlands international had a great game at both ends of the field but couldn’t help his team to a win as Inter played a 2-2 draw with Roma. De Vrij scored a goal, managed the second-highest number of passes (58) and the highest number of interceptions in the game (4).
Centre-back: Julian Chabot (Sampdoria)
Julian Chabot has barely featured for Sampdoria in the present campaign. However, the German youngster was given a rare start against Parma and he grasped it with both hands. Chabot scored a goal, managed the highest number of interceptions (4) and third-highest number of recoveries (8) in the game, which ended 3-2 in Sampdoria’s favour.
Left-back: Leonardo Spinazzola (Roma)
Leonardo Spinazzola was simply outstanding on the left-hand side of Roma’s defence against Inter Milan. The former Juventus man was a constant threat for the Nerazzurri with his accurate crosses inside the box for Edin Dzeko. However, it was Spinazzola who actually scored from an Eden Dzeko assist in the entertaining 2-2 draw.
Central midfielder: Hakan Calhanoglu (AC Milan)
Hakan Calhanoglu has been in sparkling form in recent weeks, with the Turkey international scoring a goal and providing an assist from his favourite number 10 position during AC Milan’s 5-1 rout of Bologna. He has now scored seven Serie A goals this season.
Central midfielder: Ismael Bennacer (AC Milan)
Ismael Bennacer has been the signing of the season for AC Milan. The Algerian international, who moved to the San Siro from Emploi last summer, has been the midfield general for the Rossoneri throughout the campaign and the game against Bologna was no different. Besides finding the back of the net, Bennacer also managed the highest number of tackles (4) and recoveries (10) in the game, which AC Milan won 5-1.
Right-winger: Matteo Pessina (Hellas Verona)
Matteo Pessina, who is on loan at Hella Verona from Atalanta, is one of the best emerging talents in Italian football. The former Italy Under-20 international scored Verona’s equalising goal in the 1-1 draw against his parent club, which all but ended Atalanta’s hopes of an unlikely Serie A triumph.
Left-winger: Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus)
Cristiano Ronaldo has been in sublime form since the turn of the year, with the Portuguese ace once again being on song in Juventus’ 2-1 triumph over Lazio. Ronaldo’s brace not only helped Juventus to move eight points clear at the top of the Serie A table, but it also brought him level with Lazio’s Ciro Immobile atop the goalscoring charts, with both netting 30 times each.
Striker: Edin Dzeko (Roma)
Edin Dzeko was at his best against a title-chasing Inter Milan. Although the Bosnian striker didn’t score a goal, he provided two assists to help his side play out a 2-2 draw against the Nerazzurri.
Striker: Fabio Quagliarella (Sampdoria)
Fabio Quagliarella is ageing like a fine wine, with the 37-year-old Italian showing no sign of stopping. The veteran striker was a constant menace to the Parma defenders as he scored a goal and provided an assist to help Sampdoria to an important 3-2 victory in Serie A.
