Lewis Hamilton Aims To Equal Michael Schumacher’s Six-Win Belgian Grand Prix Record at Spa

Lewis Hamilton is gearing up for an exciting weekend at Spa-Francorchamps, with a piece of history within his grasp. The seven-time Formula 1 world champion is aiming for his sixth victory at the Belgian Grand Prix, which would tie him with Michael Schumacher’s legendary record at this iconic track. Hamilton rolls into Belgium after securing a third-place finish at Silverstone, and with Ferrari showing impressive form lately, the competition is heating up. Schumacher’s six wins at Spa set the standard, starting with his first-ever Formula 1 victory back in 1992. The German icon, who also boasts seven world titles, created an incredible legacy at this circuit, becoming one of its most memorable figures over the years.

Now, Hamilton has a chance to join Schumacher at the pinnacle of that list. Many fans speculate that he could have already been sharing that record if things had gone differently in 2008. That year, he crossed the finish line first but was hit with a 25-second penalty after stewards decided he had gained an unfair advantage during a late tussle with Kimi Raikkonen. This ruling dropped him to third place and handed the win to Felipe Massa. Hamilton finally clinched his first victory at Spa in 2010 and has since added more wins in 2016, 2018, 2020, and 2024.

“We can count on a united team” Fred Vasseur Backs Ferrari to Deliver in Demanding Spa Weekend

Ferrari’s team principal, Fred Vasseur, has emphasized just how crucial precision is as the team gears up for one of the most challenging weekends in Formula 1. Spa-Francorchamps is notorious for its lengthy straights, high-speed corners, and unpredictable weather that can shift dramatically across different parts of the track. These elements often make strategy and timing key players during the race weekend.

Vasseur is optimistic that Ferrari’s recent advancements will boost the team’s confidence as they head to Belgium. The drivers have celebrated victories in two of the last three races, and at Silverstone, both Hamilton and Charles Leclerc made it to the podium, with Leclerc taking the win and Hamilton finishing in third. The team principal noted that achieving success at Spa hinges on nailing every detail from the very first session to the last lap.

He also highlighted Ferrari’s strong sense of unity as a significant advantage in their battle against Mercedes, as he said, “We know we can count on a united team with everyone always working in the same direction, and on two drivers who work well together and push each other every time they are on track.”

Vasseur pointed out that the close collaboration between Hamilton and Leclerc has been instrumental in driving the team forward. With the weather likely to change, split-second decisions to make, and reliability being a crucial factor, Ferrari believes that discipline and teamwork will be their greatest assets as Hamilton chases history.
