The much anticipated LaLiga can resume from June 8, said Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Saturday. It was earlier proposed to restart from June 12 by Javiar Tebas, LaLiga President to the media.
“I don’t know, it will depend on the [government] phases. I hope it’s on 12 June. It will depend on the waves of the virus…” Javiar Tebas had said a few days back on a Spanish programme.
Time to bring back many day-to-day activities
Prime Minsiter Pedro Sanchez said that the country had done a marvelous job in the COVID-19 imposed lockdown time and now it’s the time to open the recreational activities.
“Spain has done what it should and now new horizons are opening for everyone. The time has come to bring back many day-to-day activities,” BBC quoted Sanchez.
He also added that the the League which has a huge fan follower can resume the last phase from June 8 but behind the closed doors.
We are very pleased with the decision
The Spanish League President Javiar Tebas expressed his joy after PM’s declaration that Laliga can resume from June 8. He said: “We are very pleased with the decision. It is the result of the great work of clubs, players, coaches, CSD (National Sports Council) and agents.”
Tebas, however, maintained that safety measure should not be underestimated. He said that the officials and players will follow the health guidelines in line with the Spanish government.
“But we cannot lower our guard, it is important to follow health regulations and ensure the pandemic doesn’t come back.”
