All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the domestic Test series against England. He underwent surgery in Australia after a fracture in his left thumb during the third Test in Sydney, but he would take six weeks to recover. The series against England starts on 5 February.
Four Tests, five T20 Internationals, and three ODIs are to be played against England. The first two Tests will be played in Chennai, while the next two will be in Ahmedabad.
BCCI sources said that the decision on Jadeja’s participation in T20 and ODIs will be taken later.
Ravindra Jadeja, 32, was not named in the Indian team selected for the first two Tests against England. Now he will not be selected for the remaining two Tests as well. He was also ruled out of the Brisbane Test against Australia.
Jadeja will go through the process of rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore.
“He is out of the Test series and will take more than six weeks to recover fully,” the official said. The selectors will have to see later whether they are included in the squad for shorter formats.
