This video of Marnus Labuschagne, who is the captain of Hyderabad Kingsmen, shedding tears right after his team’s amazing victory in the Pakistan Super League, has been going viral. This touching moment took place on May 1, 2026, at Gaddafi Stadium where Hyderabad Kingsmen defeated Islamabad United by a mere margin of two runs in Eliminator 2. Labuschagne was seen crying as his team managed to win in the last ball after an intense battle and progressed to the final. He had reason to feel relieved, pressurized, and proud of his team after their performance.
Marnus Labuschagne was visibly emotional as well as extremely proud as a captain of the team, as he said, “I don’t have words to describe what we’ve done today. This team is providing entertainment.”
This match remained competitive until the very last ball. Islamabad required six runs in the final over when some wickets were still left. It was thanks to a great over delivered by Hunain Shah that Islamabad could not score those six runs and ultimately lost the match. The over became the turning point, setting up one of the closest finishes of the season.
He praised the final over, as he shared, “Hunain Shah steps in and goes for three in the last over… I’ve got goosebumps just talking about it.”

Kingsmen secure thrilling two-run win over Islamabad United in Eliminator
Hyderabad Kingsmen managed to score 186/5, putting them into bat. However, at 85 for 4, some repairs were required in the batting line-up. Usman Khan was instrumental in the revival with his unbeaten knock of 61 runs off just 30 balls. This partnership of 101 runs between the two batsmen came in the course of only 50 deliveries. Labuschagne and Saim Ayub laid a strong foundation before the batting order suffered a twin shock. While a promising run-chase helped to secure a higher total, their target was still a little insecure considering the batting track.
On the other side, Islamabad came back from a difficult position. Starting off with 68 for 4 in the tenth over of the game, Islamabad bounced back strongly. Mark Chapman (43 off 26) and Haider Ali (31 off 16) gave a good comeback to the target. The last few deliveries from Chris Green made it easier for the Islamabad batsmen to reach home quickly. A 22-run penultimate over helped to bring down the equation, leaving Islamabad needing just six runs off the final over with three wickets in hand.
Yet, Hunain Shah proved himself up to the task despite the pressure. Starting off by bowling dot balls, he followed with accurate deliveries, resulting in one of them removing Faheem Ashraf from the crease. The over resulted in him giving away only three runs, completely closing all the avenues of scoring boundaries. Scoring four runs off the final delivery was required; only a single leg bye could be scored, securing the team’s victory by two runs. Hyderabad successfully turned their fortune around by having won seven out of their eight remaining matches after losing all four of their initial games. They now advance to the final, where they will face Peshawar Zalmi on Sunday, carrying momentum from one of the tightest finishes of the season.
