Former Supreme Court of Pakistan judge Justice (retired) Faqir Muhammad Khokhar has been appointed as an independent adjudicator to hear Umar Akmal’s appeal against the three year ban sentence, which he was awarded after the he failed to report corruption approaches to its board.
The PCB in its media release said the date will be announced soon since the independent adjudicator is yet to decide a date.
“The independent adjudicator will now decide on the date of the appeal hearing. As soon as this is confirmed, the PCB will make the announcement,” says PCB in its media release.
Accrding to a report published in ANI, the PCB code will not allow Akmal a fresh hearing and the panel will only consider whether the appeal of 30 year old player is erroneous.

Notably, the Paksitani player is serving a three year ban sentence after he failed to report the corruption approaches to him to the board ahead of the country’s premier T20 league (PSL 2020) this year.
Akmal had earlier admitted in an interview that he was offered money to skip matches against India, and was also asked to leave two deliveries in a match by the bookies.
“I was once offered $200,000 for leaving two deliveries. I was also offered to skip matches against India,” Geo TV quoted Akmal as saying a few days ago.
