Gujarat Titans player Sai Kishore delivered a performance that turned the tide for Gloucestershire in their County Championship match against Derbyshire. The left-arm spinner took five wickets for just six runs in his first eight overs, putting the batting of Derbyshire under strain. He had an even better spell because he accounted for the top order of the batting line-up with wickets of players Harry Came, Matthew Montgomery, Wayne Madsen, Aneurin Donald, and Brooke Guest. Derbyshire slipped to 41/6 as Kishore wreaked havoc on the batsman.
Kishore had figures of 5/20 from 18 overs with 12 maidens as Derbyshire were bowled out for 105 runs in pursuit of the target of 319 runs. The spinners of Gloucestershire claimed all 10 wickets of the team and won the match by 213 runs. Kishore took two wickets in Derbyshire’s first innings thereby taking his total to seven wickets in the match. The win brought to an end the streak of six losses that Gloucestershire suffered. His remarkable spell also gave Gloucestershire complete control at a crucial stage of the match. Derbyshire simply had no answer to his accuracy and constant pressure. For Kishore, it was a memorable red-ball performance and another strong reminder of his ability to make a difference with the ball.
Gloucestershire complete stunning turnaround with 213-run win over Derbyshire
In the County Championship Division Two match at Bristol, Gloucestershire triumphed over Derbyshire by an impressive 213 runs. After falling to an alarming 37/5 early in the match, they regained their composure and finished with a score of 237 thanks to James Bracey’s 113 runs. Derbyshire responded with a score of 278 giving them a narrow lead of 41 runs. In the second innings, Gloucestershire got things right with Miles Hammond scoring 118 and Bracey scoring an unbeaten 104 runs taking their total score to 359/5.
Derbyshire’s chase soon turned into havoc as Sai Kishore made his way through their batting order taking five wickets for just 20 runs in just 18 overs. He took five wickets in just eight overs as Derbyshire was struggling at 41/6. Oliver Price grabbed 3 wickets for 59 runs while Ed Middleton took 2 wickets for 17 runs as spinners from Gloucestershire claimed all ten wickets. Derbyshire was finally bowled out for just 105 runs in 38.4 overs. With this victory, Gloucestershire ended their six-match losing streak and bagged their second Championship victory of the season.
