Rohit Sharma was involved in an unexpected moment after India’s convincing eight-wicket win over West Indies in the first ODI in Thiruvananthapuram, as the former India captain slipped while getting off the team bus at the hotel.
A video of the incident has surfaced on social media and quickly caught the attention of cricket fans. Rohit can be seen making his way down the final few stairs of the team bus when he suddenly loses his footing and slips. He appears to fall awkwardly near the entrance of the bus before people around him immediately move towards him.

Security personnel and members of the team’s support staff were quick to assist Rohit following the incident. The 39-year-old was helped back up and appeared to compose himself before walking away from the spot.
The incident also caught the attention of Virat Kohli, who was nearby. The former India captain could be seen turning around after noticing what had happened, with his reaction adding to the concern surrounding the moment.
Thankfully, there has been no official confirmation of any serious injury to Rohit following the incident. There has also been no reported injury update from the BCCI at the time of writing. The video, however, has led to plenty of concern among fans, given the manner in which Rohit appeared to lose his balance on the narrow bus stairs.
The incident came shortly after Rohit had featured in India’s successful run chase against West Indies at the Greenfield International Stadium. He opened the innings alongside Shubman Gill and provided India with an aggressive start while chasing 296.
Rohit scored 32 runs from 35 deliveries, hitting two fours and three sixes, and was involved in a 74-run opening partnership with Gill. Alzarri Joseph eventually dismissed the veteran batter, but India remained firmly in control of the chase.
Gill went on to score a century, while Kohli remained unbeaten on 139 as India completed the chase in 41.4 overs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.
With the second ODI scheduled to be played in Guwahati on September 30, attention will now remain on Rohit’s condition following the unexpected slip after the opening game.
