With the summer transfer window approaching in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak, football clubs are aware that getting a player on board will be a much more complicated affair, owing to the financial constraints.
So, signing a player on a free transfer seems like a fantasy now, given the current situation of the whole footballing world. Besides, not only is it cost-effective but it also provides a perfect pathway for all the football clubs to balance their books in order to comply with the rules and regulations of FIFA’s Financial Fair Play Regulations.
Just like every other season, the upcoming transfer window will see plenty of star players who will be able to leave on a free transfer. So, without wasting any time, let’s have a look at ten such players who will become free agents soon.
#1 Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain)
The Paris Saint-Germain striker was on the verge of joining Spanish giants Atlético Madrid in the last winter transfer window, but the deal never materialised.
Edinson Cavani, at 33, is still considered one of the most lethal strikers in the world. The Uruguayan has only appeared in 22 matches in all competitions this season, amounting to just 1096 minutes on the pitch. His present contract with PSG will end this summer, meaning he could leave on a free transfer, with the likes of Inter Milan interested in him.
#2 David Silva (Manchester City)
Manchester City superstar David Silva has been an integral part of the Citizens’ success since his arrival from Valencia in 2010. The left-footed Spaniard has lifted every piece of silverware at the Etihad, except the UEFA Champions League, in almost ten years at the club.
Despite being a regular starter, Silva will leave the English club on a free transfer in the upcoming window. Several reports suggest that the 34-year-old midfielder could ply his trade outside Europe next, with numerous clubs interested in the 2010 World Cup winner.
#3 Willian (Chelsea)
Chelsea’s Willian is another player whose contract will run out at the end of this season. The 31-year-old winger has been a great hit at Stamford Bridge since his arrival in the summer fo 2013.

In an interview last October, Martin himself expressed his doubts over a possible contract renewal with Napoli.
“Here at Napoli I still have seven months left on my contract. I don’t know where I’ll be playing next season.”
But recent reports indicate that the Belgian can prolong his stay at the Serie A club beyond the season.
#5 Adam Lallana (Liverpool)
Liverpool’s Adam Lallana could become one of the best bargains of the upcoming transfer window as his contract with the Merseyside giants expires at the end of the season. The 32-year-old former Southampton ace has experienced a stop-start Liverpool career until now.
As per reports, Liverpool will let Lallana leave on a free transfer, with Leicester City mooted to be his likely destination..

Tottenham Hotspur, managed by Jose Mourinho, have been credited with showing interest in Meunier, who has won three Ligue 1 titles and two French Cups amongst other honours at PSG.

Mario Gotze, who will go down in history books as Germany’s World Cup hero, will be a free agent at the end of the season. He has already announced that he will not be extending his contract with Borussia Dortmund.
Links with Liverpool have emerged eminently after Gotze himself accepted that he is in contact with former Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp, who is now in charge of Liverpool.
“I’m still in touch with Jurgen.”
#9 Layvin Kurzawa (Paris Saint-Germain):
Paris Saint-Germain left-back Layvin Kurzawa has been linked with a possible move away from PSG for quite some time now. The 27-year-old’s contract with the French giants will end at the end of the season, meaning he will be able to leave on a free transfer.
As per reports, Arsenal and Juventus are trying hard to acquire the services of the versatile defender.

Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser is the last player on the list whose contract will expire at the end of the season. Although Bournemouth are reportedly trying to renew his contract, the 26-year-old Scottish international is likely to leave the Premier League outfit on a free transfer.
