Shreyas Iyer – First captain ever to go unbeaten in first 7 games in IPL season

What started off as a silent season has now become a historical moment in the history of cricket. Shreyas Iyer has guided Punjab Kings to new levels in the Indian Premier League. In seven games, there has been no loss. One game was abandoned due to rain. No captain had remained undefeated for the first seven games of an IPL season until now. Shreyas Iyer’s coolness, decisiveness, and bold batting style have brought a new perspective to PBKS. This is a rare leadership feat built on consistency, clarity, and belief.

The streak has not come out of nowhere. It comes from Iyer’s established legacy within other teams. Having taken Delhi and Kolkata to playoffs before, he is now molding Punjab into a team that chases the opposition. Initially, things seemed normal. Now, the unbeaten streak tells a bigger story – of a captain peaking at the right time.

Gujarat Titans – Won by 3 wickets

The match started with a close score. Gujarat scored 162/6. Punjab chased the total score with three wickets remaining. It may not have been a complete performance, but it was important. The narrow win set the tone for what followed.

Chennai Super Kings – Won by 5 wickets

This was one of the earliest test. While chasing 210 runs, PBKS started with the right attitude. The total looked tough to achieve, but the batting team handled the pressure well and took off whenever it mattered. It was one of the first signs of their chasing strength.

Kolkata Knight Riders – No Result

Rain interrupted this fixture. The match was abandoned, but Punjab remained unbeaten. The shared point ensured momentum stayed intact.

Sunrisers Hyderabad – Won by 6 wickets

Another high-scoring chase defined this game. Hyderabad crossed 200, but Punjab stayed aggressive. The batting line-up attacked throughout. The chase reinforced their identity – fearless and calculated under pressure.

Mumbai Indians – Won by 7 wickets

Punjab showed control in a chase here. Mumbai posted 195/6. PBKS responded with discipline and depth. The batting unit paced the innings smartly and finished with ease. It underlined their growing confidence in run chases.

Lucknow Super Giants – Won by 54 runs

Prior to this, Punjab had put forth an amazing all-around performance. Their total was 254/7, which was the highest of the season at the time. Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly provided an impressive partnership for Punjab. Punjab’s bowlers then kept Lucknow down to 200/5. A complete win, built on early control.

Delhi Capitals – Won by 6 wickets

The defining moment arrived here. PBKS chased down 265, the highest successful T20 chase. Iyer anchored the innings with a composed unbeaten knock. Delhi had posted 264/2, but Punjab never panicked. The chase sealed the seven-game unbeaten record and stamped Iyer’s authority.

From close shaves to world records, every outcome adds strength to Iyer’s leadership. The winning run isn’t about playing just one way; it’s about adapting. What’s even more important is that it marks a change. Punjab Kings aren’t a team of moods anymore; they’re precise, dependable, and  historic.
