Sachin Tendulkar’s heartfelt post for son Arjun Tendulkar after IPL 2026 debut

2026 saw one of the most emotional moments of IPL beyond the scorecard, which came when Arjun Tendulkar made his IPL debut for the Lucknow Super Giants. After just a few hours of his match against Punjab Kings, Sachin Tendulkar, who is considered to be one of the greatest cricketers of all time, released a post about his son on social media which soon went viral. Sachin congratulated Arjun for maintaining his patience through the entire tournament and waiting till the last match of their team in the league phase to make his debut. The legendary cricketer noted how cricket requires not only talent but patience as well and complimented his son on displaying both of them.

After the game, the former India captain highlighted Arjun’s discipline and positive mindset throughout the campaign, as he said, “Well done, Arjun. Proud of the way you’ve carried yourself through this season, always believing in your ability, staying patient, working hard quietly, and remaining positive despite having to wait for your opportunity till the very last match.”

Almost immediately after Sachin’s post went viral, Sara Tendulkar also took to social media and shared her own emotional note about her little brother. Praising his hard work and mindset of a fighter, Sara congratulated Arjun and noted how he deserved a chance at success after remaining patient all this time.

How Did Arjun Fare Against Punjab?

Arjun made his debut in LSG’s last match of the league phase when the team was already not eligible for playoffs. He delivered an impressive show under immense pressure of making his debut in such a scoring game. Arjun took one wicket giving away 36 runs in 4 overs and also maintained the best economy rate among all the LSG bowlers. LSG skipper Rishabh Pant brought in Arjun directly after the power play. Arjun created the impression right at the beginning of his spell with his economical bowling as well as bouncers to the opening batter Prabhsimran Singh.

However, Arjun remained composed and came back in strong form late in the innings. His best moment came during the 15th over where he clean bowled Prabhsimran on the LBW route with a toe-crushing yorker. Prabhsimran had hit 69 runs off 39 balls at that time. Arjun managed to score five runs batting for five balls while helping LSG in scoring 196/6. Yet, Punjab won the chase without much difficulty with the unbeaten knock of 101 by Shreyas Iyer.

Sachin Highlights Patience And Positivity

The content of Sachin’s message revolved less around his son’s performance and more around his attitude throughout this trying period. The cricket great said he felt proud of how well Arjun conducted himself amid all those weeks of waiting patiently. The message alluded to his hard work, positive attitude towards his playing and self-belief despite not being able to play in any match yet.

Overall, the message captured the true spirit of Arjun’s IPL journey. Having played for Mumbai Indians in previous years, this is his first season playing elsewhere following the shift to LSG ahead of IPL 2026. However, Arjun had not yet been able to make his debut as the opportunities were slim until then. This made his debut all the more special for the Tendulkar family. Meanwhile, the father gave Arjun advice about staying humble and continuing to enjoy the game. This line was especially resonant with the fans, who perceived it as a testament to perseverance and patience in cricket.
