Star Indian opener and vice-captain of the limited-overs side, Rohit Sharma has expressed his desire to play both the IPL and the ICC T20 World Cup this year.
The future of both the T20 tournaments is doubtful, amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
Some reports suggest that only one of the two tournaments will likely take place, considering the time the sport lost during the suspension of cricketing activities around the globe in wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Rohit Sharma wants to play both tournaments
Rohit Sharma, who has featured in 108 T20Is and 188 IPL matches, initiated an Instagram chat session and said that he would “preferably play both” when asked to choose between the IPL and the T20 World Cup.
Notably, the BCCI has postponed the 13th edition of the cash-rich league indefinitely due to the coronavirus crisis, while the apex governing body of cricket, the ICC is yet to take a decision on the fate of the T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to be played in Australia in OctoberNovember.
Answering another fan’s question, Rohit said that playing pink ball Test will be challenging for the Indian team when they travel to Australia later this year.
Rohit Sharma uses one word to describe MS Dhoni
During the chat session, when the Mumbai Indians captain was asked by a fan to describe MS Dhoni in one word only, the star opener said, ‘Legend’.
Dhoni, who has played 538 international matches and 190 IPL fixtures, is the only captain to win all the ICC trophies and is regarded as one of the best skippers around.
While fans and pundits are busy speculating about his future, the former India captain still hasn’t revealed his plans. Dhoni last featured in an international game when India lost to New Zealand in the 2019 ODI World Cup semi-final.
