Parthiv Patel has revealed an interesting episode from his career when a Facebook post became the subject of a conversation with selectors as he continued his efforts to make a comeback to the Indian cricket team.
The former India wicketkeeper-batter was speaking about the challenges he faced around 2011 when he was trying to understand what he could do to improve his chances of returning to international cricket.

Parthiv recalled approaching a West Zone selector and asking what he needed to do to get better. The response, according to the former cricketer, was unexpected. He was told that he was only 27 or 28 years old and should consider starting a business.
Instead of accepting that his cricket career was moving towards its end, Parthiv challenged the selectors and backed himself to return to Team India. He said that he told them there would be a comeback in the next two years a prediction that eventually became reality.
During the same period, Parthiv made a Facebook post saying, “I wish I was born in Chennai.” The statement caught the attention of the selectors, who contacted him to ask about the meaning behind the post.
Parthiv recalled telling them that it was simply the fact according to him. The episode highlighted the frustration and emotions surrounding his battle to regain his place in Indian cricket.
Parthiv had made his India debut at a very young age and had experienced the pressures that come with being a wicketkeeper in Indian cricket. Competition for the position remained intense, making every opportunity extremely valuable.
His recollection provides a different perspective on his comeback journey. At a stage when he was being advised to think about life beyond cricket, Parthiv continued to believe that another opportunity with India was possible.
The story also reflects the importance of self-belief in professional sport. Despite the doubts surrounding his future, Parthiv Patel refused to walk away from cricket and continued pushing for another chance at the international level.
