New Zealand captain Ken Williamson has taken the new record with the new year. He has become the first batsman from New Zealand to score the fastest 7 thousand Test runs. He achieved this feat in the Christchurch Test being played against Pakistan.
Williamson scored 238 runs in the first innings of the match. This is his fourth double century in the overall test. It was also the first double century of 2021 in cricket.
Williamson played 13 matches less than Ross Taylor
Ross Taylor is the second fastest in terms of scoring 7 thousand test runs. He achieved this feat in 96 Tests. While Kane Williamson made 13 in the 84th Test by playing 13 matches less than him.
New Zealand are leading 1-0 in the 2-Test series against Pakistan. In the first match, New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 101 runs. The test was played at Mount Moungui.
Kane Williamson lags behind former captains Stephen Fleming and Ross Taylor in most runs. He has scored 7115 runs in 83 Tests so far. While Fleming has scored 7172 in 111 Tests and Taylor has scored 7379 runs in 105 matches.
