Most runs in the IPL

The Indian Premier League, an organization that prides itself on its big-hitting batters and raucous spectators, has become more of an endurance contest than anything else over the years. Only a few batters have managed to establish themselves at the top of the runs tally list. Leading the pack is Virat Kohli, who has managed 8989 runs; then comes Rohit Sharma with 7183 runs, Shikhar Dhawan with 6769 runs, David Warner with 6565 runs, and KL Rahul with 5579 runs. Closely following are Suresh Raina with 5528 runs and MS Dhoni with 5439 runs.

This is no coincidence. The players listed above have spent several years performing consistently amid pressure. It took them time to adjust to changes in batting styles, different formats, and various team requirements. From anchors to finishers, their contributions shaped match outcomes. As the IPL grew bigger, these names stayed constant, delivering season after season.

Virat Kohli – 8989 runs

Virat Kohli is still unique. He remained dedicated to one team, RCB, from 2008. His performance in the year 2016 is memorable, with 973 runs being the best tally for any particular season. He boasts eight centuries and several Orange Caps. Finally, his stint came to an end after RCB won the championship in 2025.
