Carlos Alcaraz was left stunned after he received a marriage proposal during the Laver Cup. The Spaniard, representing Team Europe, secured a win over Team World’s Taylor Fritz at London’s O2 Arena, 6-3, 4-6, 13-11. He had lost to Fritz when the two played at the Laver Cup last year; but this year, he successfully avenged the defeat and won the nail-biter.
However, one moment caught him off guard, when a fan in the stands asked him to marry his sister. During the post-win interview, a fan suddenly shouted, “Marry my sister, Carlos.” Needless to say, the unusual request left the 23-year-old visibly surprised, with the seven-time Grand Slam champion responding with a laugh.
The Spaniard reacted in shock, and said, “What the heck?”, before adding, “I’m too young still,” before turning his attention back to the interview. Needless to say, the light-hearted moment left the people at the venue in splits.

Earlier before the Laver Cup, he revealed the reason behind smiling after losing the US Open to Ben Shelton. Following the five-set quarterfinal, he didn’t break down or even looked stressed. Instead, he put up a bright smile. “The quarter-final was great – it was a gift for me,” Alcaraz said. “I suffered, but I enjoyed and that’s why I smiled when I walked out of the court because I missed that feeling,” he added.
Talking about Alcaraz, he was out of action for four months due to a wrist injury and only returned at the US Open. He will now be in action at the Tokyo Open, and will enter the tournament as the defending champion. Not only this, but he has also pulled out of the China Open as he continues to recover from the knee injury that also forced him to miss the US Open.
