Lando Norris has secured a special bonus alongside his new long-term McLaren contract, with the reigning Formula 1 world champion being gifted the MCL39 chassis he drove during his 2025 title-winning campaign. McLaren confirmed the car will serve as a lasting reminder of Norris’ contribution to the team, particularly his role in helping secure consecutive Constructors’ Championships and McLaren’s first Drivers’ title since 2008.
The new agreement keeps Norris at McLaren until at least the end of the 2030 season, with an option allowing the partnership to continue beyond that point. The 26-year-old has been with McLaren since joining its junior programme in 2017 and has since become the team’s most experienced Grand Prix driver, recording 13 wins, 18 poles and 48 podiums. His contract extension comes after back-to-back victories in Hungary and the Netherlands, although he currently trails championship leader Kimi Antonelli by 83 points with 11 rounds remaining.
The gifted MCL39 adds a particularly personal touch to Norris’ new deal, preserving the car in which he achieved the biggest milestone of his career so far.
