Kainat Imtiaz announces retirement from international cricket

Pakistan women’s fast bowler Kainat Imtiaz has called time on her international career after 13 years with the national team. The Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed the news on 4 October. The 34-year-old right-arm pacer played 19 One-Day Internationals and 21 T20 Internationals for the Women in Green. She made her T20I debut against South Africa in Potchefstroom in October 2010 and her ODI debut against Ireland in Fatullah the following year. She was part of the Pakistan squads that won gold medals at the Asian Games in 2010 (China) and 2014 (South Korea). She also featured in four matches at the 2017 Women’s World Cup and represented her country at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Her final T20I came against Thailand in Sylhet in October 2022, while her last ODI appearance was against Australia at the Gabba in January 2023. In recent months she has already begun the next chapter of her cricket journey, serving as a match referee at the PCB National Women’s Under-19 T20 Tournament in August and September.

Kainat Imtiaz career statistics

Kainat Imtiaz’s international numbers reflect a reliable all-round presence rather than headline-grabbing performances. She began her journey in 2007 with the Karachi Schools Under-17 side and made her domestic debut the following year. Her transition into match refereeing continues a family tradition in the game and offers her a meaningful second innings in cricket.
