Deepak Chahar emerged as the star for India with the ball and helped India to clinch a 3-0 win over West Indies in the third and final T20 match. Rohit Sharma was rested and KL Rahul replaced him as Shikhar Dhawan’s partner. Indian will now take on West Indies for the One Day International series starting on August 8, 2019.
West Indies Batting
After the rain had delayed proceedings, West Indies were asked to bat first. With 14/2 on board the match seemed over for the hosts, but the experienced Kieren Pollard began a counter attack. He put the pressure back on the Indians and made the spinners wary. Washington Sundar and debutant Rahul Chahar struggled to get going in front of him. The big-hitter first combined with Nicholas Pooran (17) and then with Rovman Powell (32*) to help his team score 80 in the last 13 overs. Â Pollard ended with 58* off 45 as West Indies ended with 146/6 in 20 overs.
Indian Bowling
Deepak Chahar’s outswingers were the highlights of the match.  Chahar never let anyone feel that he was playing his first match of the series. He sent back Sunil Narine (2), Evin Lewis (10) and Shimron Hetmyer (1) in quick succession. His outswingers were the highlight of the game and as Chahar ended with the second best figures by an Indian in T20Is. Chahal ended with 3/4 whereas Bhuvneshwar Kumar had conceded just 3/3 overs against Bangladesh in 2014. Later when Pooran and Pollard were looking inseparable. However, Navdeep Saini brought the pressure back as he first dismissed Pooran and then sent back Pollard to finish with 2/34.
Indian batting
India got off to a poor start after Shikhar Dhawan failed for the consecutive third time in the series. KL Rahul, playing in place of Rohit Sharma, looked like too eager to utilize the chance given to him. He could manage to get 20 off 18 balls and India were soon on 27/2. Then the young keeper Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli got together, playing cautiously at first, and then killing the Windies bowlers. Kohli scored 59 runs whereas Pant stayed till the end with 65 off 42. Although Kohli was gone in the 18th over Pant finished off the match with a six and reminded everyone about Mahendra Singh Dhoni, arguably the greatest finisher. Â His knock consisted of four boundaries and four maximums as he went for an onslaught.
West Indies Bowling
Oshane Thomas was the only influential bowler from West Indies unit. He picked up the wicket of Shikhar Dhawan to give the initial blow. Later he came back to break the partnership of Kohli and Pant. Economically Fabian Allen was the most valuable bowler of the camp as he ended with the bowling analysis 3-0-18-1.
