In collaboration with Mumbai Falcons Racing Limited, Formula 1 will organise the first ever F1 Sim Racing Championship in India. This championship is called the F1 Sim Racing India Open 2026. It aims to offer a path from gaming competitions to real racing. Registrations are being accepted on April 30, the championship signals a clear push to tap India’s growing F1 fanbase and gaming community.

Now, it is a recognised stage in driver training. Hence, it helps young aspirants showcase their skills through sim racing competitions and move up the motorsport ladder.
F1’s India push picks up speed
The interest in F1 racing is rapidly increasing in India. Talks about conducting races in the nation are getting more and more popular. At the same time, millions of fans engage in discussions and conversations regarding this sport through digital platforms. How the championship will unfold
The competition will be conducted in the official game, F1 25. The game will feature real-life races with the same tracks and rules. The competition can be participated in by players on their PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox gaming console. The competition will be divided into several stages. There will be an online qualification round, followed by city-level simulator rounds. Finally, the winners will battle it out in a national final held in Mumbai in November 2026. Registrations will be done through the MFRL app.

He emphasized the immense popularity of F1 among Indians along with the availability of a generation that is experienced with gaming in the world of motorsports. He believes that the timing for launching the championship couldn’t be better. He also noted that such a structured platform could set new standards in talent identification and development.
According to Narain, India has long been central to the global growth story of Formula 1 as he said, “With 78.8 million fans and a generation raised on F1 gaming, the time is right to introduce an official, competitive Sim Racing Championship here.”
Mumbai Falcons’ proven talent pipeline
The Mumbai Falcons have some credentials when it comes to this venture. With its inception in 2019, the organization has managed to establish itself as a well-known entity in the realm of junior racing. In addition, it became the first team from India to secure an international championship organized by the FIA. The most crucial factor about the team is that it nurtured many talented drivers at the start of their careers. This background gives credibility to the new initiative.
