Australian players will be wearing specially designed indigenous jerseys in the upcoming T20 series against India. Cricket Australia unveiled the new jersey on Wednesday. This jersey is designed to honor the 1868 Australian team. The jerseys have been designed by Aunt Fionn Clarke and Kourtney Hagen.
Cricket Australia wrote in a tweet that for the first time in 1868 the Australian team toured overseas. The team reached the United Kingdom after a 3-month sea voyage where they played 47 matches at the World Famous Ground. This jersey is designed to give tributes to them.
The jersey was designed by Aunt Fionn Clarke, a descendant of Grongarong Moscito. Moskito was part of the team that toured England in 1868. It has been produced by Kourtney Hagen, Buchulla and Gubbi Gubbi Women and Cricket Australia Engagement Specialist.
According to a report by ESPN Cricinfo, the Australian women’s team has already worn this particular jersey. They wore this jersey in a match against England earlier this year. At the same time, this jersey was also used in the Women’s Big Bash League and Big Bash League.
Team India has to play 3–3 ODIs and 4-Test series after T20
