ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Final between England and Australia Shatters Attendance Records; Draws 28,887 Fans at Lord’s

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 final made history by breaking the attendance record at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. On July 5, 2026, a vibrant crowd of 28,887 fans gathered to witness the thrilling showdown between England and Australia, marking it as the highest-attended women’s match ever at this iconic venue. This remarkable turnout is a testament to the rising popularity of women’s cricket. Several factors contributed to the massive crowd, including England’s journey to the final on home turf, the intense rivalry with Australia, and the fact that both teams entered the match undefeated.

Most of the spectators were cheering for England, as the tournament took place entirely in their home country and the team had delivered an impressive performance throughout. Their aggressive style of play had drawn in fans in droves during the competition. However, Australia dashed the home team’s hopes with a decisive seven-wicket win. The tournament also saw strong attendance overall, featuring sell-out matches and record crowds, highlighting the growing enthusiasm for women’s cricket throughout the event.

Australia Stay Unbeaten to Clinch Seventh Women’s T20 World Cup Title

Australia wrapped up a perfect campaign by winning every single match and claiming their seventh ICC Women’s T20 World Cup title. After opting to bowl first, they kept England in check with some disciplined bowling. Lucy Hamilton made her mark by taking out Amy Jones early, marking her first wicket of the tournament, while Annabel Sutherland sent tournament top-scorer Danni Wyatt-Hodge back to the pavilion. England’s captain, Nat Sciver-Brunt, once again shone with an unbeaten 58 off 53 balls. Freya Kemp contributed a solid 44 not out from 28 balls, and together they formed an unbroken partnership of 80 runs, helping England finish at 150/4. For Australia, Kim Garth, Hamilton, Sutherland, and Sophie Molineux each took one wicket.

Australia responded with another impressive performance. Although Georgia Voll was dismissed early, Beth Mooney and Phoebe Litchfield quickly turned the tide. They put together a remarkable 100-run partnership for the second wicket, with Litchfield scoring 48 off 35 balls and Mooney leading the charge with a match-winning 64 from 49 balls, which included 10 boundaries. This marked Mooney’s third half-century in a Women’s T20 World Cup final, following her stellar performances in 2020 and 2023. Charlie Dean managed to dismiss Litchfield, and Sophie Ecclestone trapped Mooney late in the innings. By that point, Australia was well in control. Ellyse Perry and Ashleigh Gardner calmly guided the team to victory, reaching 153/3 in just 17.1 overs, achieving the highest successful run chase in a Women’s T20 World Cup final. Mooney was named Player of the Match, and Australia capped off their unbeaten run with yet another world title, reclaiming their spot at the top of women’s T20 cricket.
