Inter Miami’s coaching change is not being driven by Lionel Messi, interim manager Guillermo Hoyos has stressed, as Cristian “Kily” González prepares to take charge. González was appointed as the club’s new head coach after Miami endured a five-game winless run, including four defeats and one draw across competitions. Hoyos, who will remain in charge until González and his staff receive the required work permits, insisted the decision was made by the club. He also dismissed suggestions of tension surrounding the transition.
“The lines of communication have been open since day one. That’s natural, given how we stepped in to handle a specific situation, it’s a role that just kept going and going,” Hoyos said. He added, “Now, they’ve found someone who, in my view, is the perfect fit, highly capable and truly able to help take the club to the level it deserves to reach. That is very clear.
