According to a report published in Reuters, an on-site hotel was being constructed in Adelaide Oval to quarantine the tourists from India. Travis Head, the Australian vice captain, backed the plan and said his home ground can organise all of the matches if circumstances forced to do so.
India is scheduled to tour Australia to play a four test match series later this year in December. However, it might be rescheduled to February considering the current coronavirus pandemic.
But Cricket Australia is making efforts to host the series as scheduled as it believes that playing the series with India will help them cope with the financial crisis the board is facing currently. The apex body of Australian cricket is also mulling to increase the number of matches in the series.
Head backs the plan
“If it comes down to that, I know that it will definitely be able to cope and withstand back-to-back test matches,” said the left handed batsman as per Reuters.
“We’ve had instances where there’ll be A-League games, rugby league or concerts going on and… the (curator) has been able to prepare a wicket and drop it in the middle of the square, day of the game or two days out of the game,” he added.
Team India Ready to be quarantined
Notably, according to some reports, BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal had said that Indian team is ready to be quarantined for the tour to go ahead.
“Two weeks is not that long a lockdown. That would be ideal for any sportsman because when you are in quarantine for such a long period, then going to another country and having a two-week lockdown it would be a good thing to do. We’ll have to see what the norms are post this lockdown,” Dhumal Said a few days ago.
