Gurnoor Brar Claims Career-Best 10-Wicket Haul in India A’s Dominant Win Over Sri Lanka A

Left-arm quick bowler Gurnoor Brar made the best statement of his first-class career with his match figures of 10 wickets in an overwhelming win for India A against Sri Lanka A in the second unofficial Test match held at Galle. The bowler continued with his good form throughout the match, which included two strong batting performances from both teams. The 10 wickets taken by Brar in the second unofficial Test were crucial in securing a series win for India A by taking the 2-Test series 1-0.

Brar continues to impress as he makes a name for himself with yet another brilliant outing with the red ball. Brar’s ability to extract bounce, seam and pace from the pitch has caught the attention of the selectors of India led by Ajit Agarkar. This can be seen in his selection to play in the ODI series against Afghanistan, where the bowler played in all three matches and took six wickets in India’s series sweep.

India A’s Dominant Run Against Sri Lanka A In Tests

India A took control right from the start and never let Sri Lanka A find their footing. After the hosts set a challenging target of 366, India A responded with a staggering 543/9 declared, giving them a solid 177-run lead in the first innings. Sai Sudharsan was the star of the show, smashing an impressive 168, while Devdutt Padikkal contributed a valuable 94, and Saransh Jain finished strong with an unbeaten 70 to extend their advantage. On the final morning, India A added just a single run before declaring their innings.

On the other hand, Sri Lanka A needed to bounce back but stumbled early, losing wickets as Brar tore through the top order. They found themselves in a tough spot at 49/4, but Ashen Bandara stepped up with a quickfire 87 off 86 balls. His partnership with Anjala Bandara momentarily slowed India’s momentum, but Brar returned to break the partnership and dismantle the resistance. He ended the innings with a remarkable six-wicket haul, while Saransh Jain chipped in with two wickets, leaving Sri Lanka A all out for 209.

This meant India A only needed to chase down a modest target of 33 runs. They accomplished this without losing a wicket, wrapping it up in just 6.2 overs. Sai Sudharsan finished unbeaten on 25, and Aman Mokhade added 11 not out, sealing a dominant 10-wicket victory. This result capped off a successful tour for India A, who also clinched the 50-over tri-series earlier, with Brar and Sudharsan shining brightly ahead of the upcoming Test series in Sri Lanka.
