Hello and welcome to our daily dose of football transfer news and rumours. In today’s edition, we have Liverpool edging closer to signing a left-back, AC Milan defender possibly being on the move and more.
Liverpool close to finally signing a left-back
Liverpool are in advanced talks to sign Olympiacos left-back, Kostas Tsimikas for a fee of £11.75 million, with medical expected early next week, according to reputed journalist, Melissa Reddy.
The Premier League champions are eager to strengthen their left-back spot as Andy Robertson is the only senior player for that role, with James Milner at times playing as a makeshift left-back.
Kostas Tsimikas and Norwich City’s, Jamal Lewis emerged as the top two targets, with the Canaries full-back emerging as the front-runner to join the Reds.
However, after Norwich demanded £20 million and rejected an initial bid of £10 million from the Merseyside outfit for Jamal Lewis, Liverpool turned their attention towards Tsimikas.
A deal is close to being completed after Olympiacos accepted a bid in the region of around £12 million from Liverpool for the full-back. The six-time European champions see Tsimikas as a cheaper alternative to Lewis.
AC Milan defender keen on Torino switch
According to Sky Italia journalist, Gianluca Di Marzio and reputed Italian outlet, Tutto Sport, new Torino manager, Marco Giampaolo has requested a reunion with AC Milan full-back, Ricardo Rodriguez. Giampaolo was sacked by the Rossoneri last year after just seven games in charge.
The Swiss left-back had impressed Giampaolo during their very brief time together at Milan before being shipped out to PSV Eindhoven on loan in January. PSV did not activate their option to buy, so Rodriguez is still on the market and available for under €5m.
A meeting is expected between Torino and the player’s entourage on Tuesday to work out the details and it is highly anticipated that the Swiss international will be joining the Turin-based outfit in the coming weeks.
Napoli join chase for Real Madrid loanee
According to Sky Italia reporter, Gianluca Di Marzio, Napoli have joined the queue of clubs interested in Sergio Reguilon, the impressive Real Madrid loanee, who is currently at Sevilla.
The left-back had a tremendous La Liga season and helped Sevilla to a top-four finish. The 23-year-old then scored in the 2-0 Europa League Round of 16 victory over Roma to take his season’s tally to three goals and four assists in 34 competitive games.
It has been claimed that Napoli have made an initial approach for the versatile player, who can also play in more advanced roles.
Besides Napoli, Premier League outfits Chelsea and Everton are also interested in him, while Sevilla have not ruled out the possibility of making Reguilon’s loan move permanent.
Chelsea lead race for Brighton defender
Chelsea are looking to flex their financial muscle in the transfer race for Ben White by outbidding Liverpool and Leeds United. The Brighton and Hove Albion defender could be on the move this summer after attracting interest from all three clubs.
Leeds have already had two bids for the player rejected after attempting to make his signing permanent. White played a big role in helping the Whites return to the Premier League after 16 years.
On the other hand, Liverpool feel the 22-year-old would be an ideal replacement for the recently-departed Dejan Lovren, but Chelsea are looking likely to pip the Reds to the youngster’s signature.
It remains to be seen where the youngster would be playing next season.
Manchester United youngster close to leaving on loan
Werder Bremen are closing in on the signing of Tahith Chong from Manchester United on loan. The Dutch youngster is rated highly by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who wants him to develop further by playing regular first-team football in the Bundesliga.
Speaking in an interview with Bild, Chong’s agent, Erkan Alkan, confirmed that his client is keen on a move to the Weserstadion.
“He wants to play in the Bundesliga and would like to go to Bremen. He will inform Manchester of this. The club’s concept has convinced him.”
Chong, 20, has thus far played 16 times for Manchester United, providing two assists.
