ECB Sets Dates and Venues for 2027 Men’s and Women’s Ashes

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has just rolled out the schedule for The Ashes 2027, along with a full lineup of England’s home international matches, promising an exciting summer of cricket ahead. Once again, England and Wales will host both the men’s and women’s Ashes at the same time, a format we last enjoyed in 2023. The men’s five-Test series kicks off at Trent Bridge on June 18 and wraps up at The Oval on August 2, while the women’s series begins with a standalone Test at Headingley on June 24. This announcement also highlights England’s other home fixtures against Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. 

ECB Chief Executive Officer Richard Gould said the 2027 calendar reflects the importance of the Ashes while highlighting the continued expansion of the game across formats. He described, “The Ashes is the pinnacle of our sport, and it is significant that next summer we will have three England teams playing against Australia at venues across the country. The last time Australia were here made for captivating cricket, in a way that only the Ashes can provide, as both of our men’s and women’s teams fought back to level the series in dramatic circumstances.”

ECB Confirms Trent Bridge for Opening Test in Ashes 2027 

Australia will begin its England tour with a four-day warm-up match against the England Lions at Old Trafford from June 7 to 10, giving the visitors valuable preparation before the first Test. However, that fixture could be reviewed if Australia qualify for the World Test Championship final. The opening Test will then be played at Trent Bridge (June 18-22), followed by the second Test at Lord’s (June 30-July 4). The series will continue at Edgbaston (July 8-12), before Southampton’s Utilita Bowl stages its first-ever men’s Ashes Test from July 21-25. The fifth and final Test will be held at The Oval (July 29-August 2), completing a schedule that stretches from the warm-up game in early June to the final Test in August. 

ECB Confirms Women’s Ashes Fixtures, Starting with Historic Headingley Test 

The women’s Ashes are set to kick off with an exciting four-day Test at Headingley from June 24 to 27. England is eager to reclaim the trophy after a tough loss in Australia. Following the Test, the series will shift gears into the white-ball format, featuring three T20 Internationals on July 3, July 6, and July 9 at Trent Bridge, The Oval, and Old Trafford, respectively. After that, fans can look forward to three One-Day Internationals taking place at Southampton on July 13, Lord’s on July 16, and Edgbaston on July 20. In the women’s Ashes points system, the Test match is worth four points, while each white-ball win brings in two points, making every game vital for determining the overall champion. This parallel scheduling ensures that both the men’s and women’s Ashes series remain key highlights of England’s home summer in 2027.
