Amit Mishra, who was supposed to fill Anil Kumble shoes after his retirement, feels that he is one of the most unlucky cricketers to have been sidelined from the team even after good performances.
Amit Mishra in an Instagram live session with Vikrant Gupta expressed his pain. He said that he still does not have the reason for being dropped from the team.
“I asked everyone, coaches, selectors and captains but none of them could give me a satisfactory reply,” said Mishra on the live chat.
Sidelined when I was performing well
Talking further in the show, the leg spinner said that he has always contributed to the team whenever he was given a chance but getting sidelined even after performing well was heart wrenching.
“..I was performing well and at the peak of my carrier when the management rested me in 2010, I asked the coach and he said we are just experimenting and giving chance to a new player (Pragyan Ojha)….”
“I have contributed with the bat as well. I have six seven 50s in my name in such a short span of my carrier,” said Amit Mishra.
Not given a chance after recovering from injury
The leg spinner, who has played in 22 Tests, 36 ODIs and 10 T20Is, said, ‘I got injured while I was performing well. The injury changed everything for me, no one has contacted me and when I tried to contact they fail to ‘communicate’.
“I started playing IPL and other tournaments after getting recovered but not got a single message from the management regarding the future plan.”
He also spoke about the rule which was not followed in his case. Expressing the pain, Amit Mishra said: “The team had has a rule that if a player gets injured during playing, he will be given at least a chance to prove him again. But it didn’t happen with me. I don’t know why?”
