The West Indian cricketer Chris Gayle seems to have changed his mind yet again. Gayle wanted to retired post World Cup 2019. But now he wants to continue for a longer period.
Chris Gayle Retirement reconsiders the decision
Chris Gayle has shown his interest in playing the homes test series against India in August- September. Gayle earlier announced in February that he would retire from international cricket after the mega event in England.
But now it looks like the hitter had reconsidered the decision. Now he conveyed that he would like to play the test series against India and then retire.
According to Gayle, he can still deliver and perform.
He said, “It’s still not the end. I still have a few games to go. Maybe another series to go, as well. Who knows, we will see what happens. My plans after World Cup 2019? I may play a Test match against India and then I will definitely play the ODIs against India. I won’t play the T20s. That’s my plan after the World Cup.”
Gayle’s final call has been confirmed by the team manager Philip Spooner. Philip has given a nod to the news saying, “Yes, Chris will play his last series against India.”
Chris Gayle, the Universal Boss
West Indies are currently in England, playing the World Cup 2019. Although they don’t have much chance left to enter the semi-final stage, there are a few memorable performances that they can take home.
Gayle’s two fifties are one of those. But Chris Gayle has not been the usual destructive in the tournament so far. Gayle has the ability to scare any top bowler. Indian Premier League has seen one of the best versions of him.
He became the fastest batsman to score 4000 IPL runs and the only player to hit 300 sixes. The ‘Universe Boss’, as he calls himself, has scored 10345 runs in 295 one day matches and 1627 runs in 58 Twenty 20 matches so far.
In Test matches, Gayle has 7214 runs and 15 hundred at an average of 42.18 from 103 test matches in his kitty.
Last time he was seen in test cricket representing the West Indies was in September 2014. So now even if he wishes to play the series against India, the ball is in the court of the selectors.
India and West Indies will play three-match Twenty20 series starting from August 3. Then they will play three one day matches from August 6 to August 14. Then two-match test series will begin from August 22. These series will be a part of India’s tour of United States of America and West Indies, 2019.
