England’s talismanic all-rounder Ben Stokes will miss the remaining 2 Test against Pakistan due to family reason confirmed the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Sunday August 9.
Stokes, who has played all the four Test this English Summer, will leave for New Zealand later this week and would not take part in the Tests at Ageas Bowl in Southampton. Stokes was born in New Zealand, where his parents still live.
An ECB official statement confirmed the news: “Stokes will leave the UK later this week and travel to New Zealand. He will miss England’s two Test matches against Pakistan at the Ageas Bowl starting on Thursday 13 August and Friday 21 August.
“The England and Wales Cricket Board, along with the Stokes family, requests that all media respects the family’s privacy at this time.”
Ben Stokes had good outing in the first three Tests this English Summer against the touring West Indies. He also stood as a captain in the first Test against West Indies, though ending up on the losing side.
Stokes led the England batting scoring 46, 43, 176, 78*, and 20 in the 5 innings against West Indies. He also picked up 9 wickets in the four innings of the two-Test.
However, the all-rounder did not have a good run with the bat against Pakistan in the first Test at Emirates Old Trafford. He scored a duck and 9 in the two innings.
