With the coronavirus enforced lockdown is set to be lifted across the globe, Cricket Australia started its preparation for the upcoming summer season and is set to release a full summer fixture on Friday.
The summer season will start in November with Australia facing Afghanistan in its first ever encounter against the side in the longest format, This will be followed by Virat Kohli led side who will face off Australians to defend Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Full-schedule to be announced on Friday
According to a report published in cricket.com.au, Cricket Australia will release full Men’s and Women’s schedule on Friday, however, the governing body will reserve the right to make changes midway in the schedules if COVID-19 forces the board to do so.
Afghanistan and Australia are due to meet for the first time in Test cricket at the Perth Stadium, with the match scheduled to be a day-night affair, from November 21.
Later, Australia will take on Team India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy which it had lost two summer back by 2-1.
Domestic schedule to be announced later
While, the International fixtures for the Men’s and Women’s team will be announced tomorrow, Cricket Australia website reports that the domestic schedule including BBL and WBBL will be announced later.
Cricket Australia is also working on a plan to host this year’s T20 World Cup at its originally scheduled time. The apex body of cricket, ICC is also observing the developments closely to take a decision on T20 World Cup.
ICC has issued a statement to inform the cricket fans across the globe that the ongoing speculations are inaccurate and it is still going ahead with the preparations to host the showcase event in its originally scheduled time.
