Gurnoor Brar faces social media storm over alleged private chats and photo

Indian fast bowler Gurnoor Brar finds himself at the centre of a social media controversy just as he prepares for the ODI series against New Zealand. Screenshots of what are claimed to be his Snapchat conversations, along with a shirtless photograph, began circulating widely on Reddit and other platforms on November 1.

According to the circulating posts, a user alleged that Brar is in a serious relationship with a woman named Manmeet Kaur. The same posts claim he adds multiple girls on Snapchat, sends them pictures of himself (including the shirtless image in which he covers the lower part of his body with a towel), and asks for pictures in return.

There are also claims that he is involved in exchanges as flirty or explicit and says he blocks women who decline. Users pointed to a necklace in the photo matching one Brar has worn and shared on Instagram as supporting evidence. However, the authenticity of the screenshots and the identity of the person in the photograph have not been independently verified. Moreover, Gurnoor Brar has not issued any public statement responding to the claims, and no official comment from the BCCI has been reported either.

Gurnoor Brar faces Social Media backlash ahead of New Zealand ODI Series

Gurnoor Brar has got plenty of backlash on social media after many posts went viral. The 26-year-old Punjab pacer made his international debut against Afghanistan in June 2026. He has played nine ODIs so far, taking 14 wickets with a best of 3/27.

He is selected in the squad for the New Zealand series and has been viewed as a promising hit-the-deck option for Indian bowling attacks, particularly after solid domestic and India A performances. The timing of these claims are not good as Brar is part of the touring squad for the five-match ODI series that begins shortly in New Zealand.

He has previously got some criticism for on-field behavior as well as earlier this year he received an official ICC warning and one demerit point for throwing the ball in an “inappropriate and dangerous” manner toward England opener Ben Duckett during the first ODI in Birmingham.

That was a Level 1 Code of Conduct breach which he accepted without a formal hearing. For a player still establishing himself in the national side, the sudden spotlight on private matters has generated intense discussion among fans on social media.
