India batter S Meghana announced her retirement from all forms of cricket at the age of 30 on Friday, October 23. Her last performance for India came in October 2022, and was last seen in action during the 2025 season of the Women’s Premier League. The top-order batter, who played 20 matches for India, made the announcement via an Instagram post.
“As I announce my retirement from all formats of cricket as a player, my heart is overflowing with gratitude,” she wrote in a social-media post. “The field has been my second home, teaching me resilience, humility, and giving me memories and friendships that I will carry for a lifetime,” she announced.
“While my cricket days come to an end, my bond with cricket will never break,” she added. “I will always stay deeply connected to the game and intend to dedicate my life to giving back to the sport, mentoring the next generation, and serving the game that gave me everything.”
S Meghana’s Cricket Career at a Glance
Meghana, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, made her international debut in a T20I against West Indies in Vijayawada in November 2016. In the game, she scored 17 runs off 16 deliveries, and India suffered a 31-run defeat. Her ODI debut came much later in February 2022 against New Zealand in Queenstown, where she scored 4 runs off 14 balls.
However, in the next two games, she came up with 49 off 50 balls and 61 off 41 balls. However, the three ODIs she played on that tour were her only appearances in the format. Unfortunately, she didn’t find a spot in the Indian squad following that tour.
In the T20I format, she scored 258 runs at a strike rate of 102.78 with one half-century. In the franchise cricket, Meghana played three seasons of the Women’s Premier League, first for the Gujarat Giants and the next two for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. She was a part of the squad that won the WPL title in 2024.
