IPL 2026: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Bags 2.8 Crore After Historic Campaign

The 2026 IPL was undoubtedly the year of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. At a tender age of 15 years, this Rajasthan Royals opening batsman not only broke many records, but also made a lot of money in his debut season by getting more than ₹2.8 crore, including salaries and match-related payments. Although Rajasthan Royals could not qualify for the finals, the player managed to become the most successful individual in the competition. In terms of statistics, the young athlete became the best-run scorer, received numerous season awards and set a number of record scores.

Sooryavanshi played a very successful season for Rajasthan Royals, and was therefore retained by his team for ₹1.10 crore salary. On top of that, the athlete made good money on match-related fees, getting ₹7.5 lakh for each game he took part in. With his participation in 16 matches during the season, he made another ₹1.20 crore due to match-related fees.

The Numbers Behind Sooryavanshi’s Record-Breaking Season

Awards and Prize Money

Sooryavanshi dominated the IPL 2026 awards list like no other player. He secured the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, which carried a cash prize of ₹15 lakh. He also claimed the Orange Cap as the tournament’s leading run-scorer and received ₹10 lakh.

His aggressive batting earned him the Super Striker of the Season award, bringing another ₹10 lakh along with a Tata Sierra. He also won the Super Sixes of the Season award and ₹10 lakh after smashing a record 72 sixes during the campaign. In addition, he was named Emerging Player of the Season and collected another ₹10 lakh.

Beyond the major honours, Sooryavanshi picked up several match-specific awards such as Electric Striker of the Match and Most Sixes of the Match. Each carried a cash reward of ₹1 lakh, adding further to his earnings throughout the season.

IPL 2026 Performance: Records, Runs and Impact

More importantly, there were performances which were out-of-the-world. Sooryavanshi accumulated 776 runs in 16 matches and emerged as the Orange Cap holder in the IPL 2026 edition. He had an astonishing strike rate of 237.30 and hammered 72 boundaries, thereby becoming the highest sixes scorer in a single IPL season.

This came with the backing of a brilliant 36-ball hundred against Sunrisers Hyderabad, the fastest ton recorded in IPL history. He was the first batsman to reach the 1,000-run mark in the shortest possible time, scoring the required number of runs in only 440 balls. In the playoffs, he made match-winning efforts of 97 runs from 29 balls in the Eliminator and 96 runs from 47 balls in Qualifier 2.

What is more, Sooryavanshi turned out to be the youngest-ever Orange Cap winner in the history of IPL. Furthermore, he became the first-ever cricketer to receive both Emerging Player and MVP awards in a single season of the IPL. Although Rajasthan Royals failed to qualify for the final, the brilliance of Sooryavanshi will ensure that IPL 2026 remains a special year for cricketing history books.
