Brazil announce official squad for 2026 FIFA World Cup

The Selecao have released the list of players that will represent them at FIFA World Cup 2026, and the name that stands out most is Neymar. Despite the uncertainty surrounding the player’s physical well-being, new Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti has included the 34-year-old forward in the squad. The five-time World Cup winners prepare to travel to North America with a team centered around Vinícius Júnior, Raphinha and some solid veteran players. Brazil, who are looking to lift their sixth trophy, start their Group C campaign with Morocco on June 13.

The inclusion of Neymar in the squad is the main story. The record holder for most goals scored by the Brazilian team has found himself in the national team again after an injury-related absence since 2023. With 79 international goals in 128 appearances, Neymar has been selected to take part in his fourth World Cup tournament.

Ancelotti explained his decision regarding Neymar, as he said, “We spent the entire year analysing Neymar. We realised that in this last period he had continuity and was in good physical condition.”

Brazil’s Fixtures

Group C will witness Brazil start their journey in the FIFA World Cup 2026 in a group that also consists of Morocco, Haiti, and Scotland. Carlo Ancelotti’s men will commence their World Cup 2026 journey by playing against Morocco in their first game on June 13 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Kick-off time for this match will be 16:00 EDT. Morocco is likely to be the toughest challenge for Brazil in the group stage, and hence this match will be a good test of the Seleção’s title prospects. In their second group stage match, Brazil will play against Haiti on June 19 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and kick-off time will be 18:00 EDT. This match will see Brazil play against one of the debutants of the World Cup, and they will be expected to win comfortably and secure the three points.

Goalkeepers

The Brazilian goalkeeping trio is anchored by Alisson Becker, who despite his absence from Liverpool’s last 10 games due to an injury, continues to be the team’s number one keeper. Ederson, who recently signed for Fenerbahçe SK, is another highly experienced and competitive player to fight for the starting position. Weverton makes up the third member of this solid lineup.

Defenders

Captain Marquinhos anchors the defence after another title-winning season with Paris Saint-Germain F.C.. Gabriel Magalhães is expected to partner him in central defence following a standout campaign with Arsenal F.C.. Bremer, Danilo and Alex Sandro add experience, while Wesley and Douglas Santos provide depth on the flanks.

Midfielders

The midfield will be centered on Bruno Guimarães and Casemiro. Bruno is energetic and has great passing ability having had a good season with Newcastle United F.C.. Casemiro provides balance and experience from previous tournaments. Paqueta adds creativity to the team while Fabinho and Danilo Santos complete the midfield rotation.

Attackers

Brazil’s attack is packed with pace and goals. Vinícius Júnior will be the focal point after establishing himself among the world’s top forwards. Raphinha arrives in top form after a superb season with FC Barcelona. Matheus Cunha, Gabriel Martinelli and Endrick add variety, while Igor Thiago, Luiz Henrique and teenage talent Rayan round out a deep frontline.

Brazil Star Players

Vinícius Júnior will enter the World Cup as Brazil’s primary danger. His ability to dribble explosively and score in important games will be the hallmark of Ancelotti’s new venture. Raphinha will provide a reliable end product, and Marquinhos will organize from the back. The impact of Neymar’s involvement may not be much, but his experience may be key. Brazil believes that with its mix of talent and experience, it can finally win another World Cup after 24 years.
