What Is Rohit Sharma’s Longest Six In IPL?

Rohit Sharma has gained notoriety based on the ease with which he hits the ball hard. Being an opener for the Mumbai Indians, Sharma is nicknamed the “Hitman” since he has sent countless balls into the stands throughout his career in the Indian Premier League. In the time he has spent playing in the IPL, beginning with his debut match in 2008, Sharma has featured in 277 matches where he has hammered 317 sixes, the highest of any Indian in the competition. However, the longest six hit by Sharma in the history of the IPL is one that stands out.

This amazing feat occurred in 2009 when Rohit Sharma represented the Deccan Chargers against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Needing just 14 runs from four balls, Rohit hit the ball over the head of Mashrafe Mortaza to send the ball flying for 115 metres and helped Deccan Chargers pull off a dramatic win.

Rohit has produced several huge strikes in the IPL. Another notable effort was a 108-metre six against Anil Kumble. However, the 115-metre blow remains his benchmark. It also reflects why he is regarded as one of the cleanest ball-strikers in T20 cricket. As of the 2026 season, Rohit has scored 7,267 IPL runs at a strike rate of 133.07, underlining both his longevity and his impact.

Rohit Sharma’s Longest Six in ODI and Test Cricket

Rohit’s power is not limited to the IPL. In One-Day Internationals, his longest recorded six measured 103 metres. He hit it against Kane Richardson in a match against Australia. It was another example of his ability to clear the boundary with ease.

In Test cricket, Rohit’s longest sixes have reached 95 metres. While the red-ball format demands patience, he has still shown the same timing and balance that define his white-ball batting. Across formats, he has struck 357 ODI sixes, 205 in T20 Internationals, 88 in Tests, and 317 in the IPL.

Power Hitters of IPL History

Chris Gayle tops the charts with 357 sixes in the IPL. He is followed by Rohit Sharma, who has hit 317 sixes and is still counting. Virat Kohli is next with 306, while MS Dhoni has 264. Other notable names include AB de Villiers with 251, David Warner with 238, and Andre Russell with 223. Rohit’s place near the top of this list highlights his consistency and his ability to dominate bowlers over nearly two decades.

Rohit’s record-long shot of 115 meters was taken in the year 2009. This also gives a glimpse of what defines Rohit’s batting style: calm under pressure and the power to change a match with one swing.
