The noise surrounding the Indian Premier League gets even louder with spectacular sixes and nail-biting endings. This time, however, it’s not about action; it’s about inaction. MS Dhoni may once again miss an important match, creating an evident void in the Chennai Super Kings’ efforts. The experienced wicketkeeper batsman, who sustained a calf strain injury, has little to no chance of making it to the match against Delhi Capitals on April 11th.
The Chennai Super Kings administration has been conservative in its estimations. Speaking to the press, their CEO Kasi Viswanathan mentioned that Dhoni is undergoing treatment and requires more time before he can return. Furthermore, Viswanathan stated that there is no way of confirming a return date, as they will have to wait until he recovers enough.

CEO Kasi Viswanathan said, “MS is undergoing rehab and it will take some time. We can’t say how much time. We are hoping he will be available for the next game, but that will depend on his progress.”
Time Running out for CSK
The poor performance by CSK has made his return more urgent. The team has suffered defeats in all their first three matches. They are at the bottom of the league table at the moment. Lack of experience during crucial moments has shown itself. Dhoni’s contribution cannot be replaced easily.
Dhoni, on the other hand, has already missed the first three games of IPL 2026. CSK’s seasoned-champion captain sustained the injury just days before the commencement of the new season. Ever since, he has remained in Chennai rather than joining his teammates on the road. What is more, he has not even taken part in any of the away matches as well as the last match in Chennai itself.
As things stand, there is no chance that he will play the game against Delhi at the moment. In addition, there have been rumors that he requires another week before regaining his match form. Even the next game against Kolkata Knight Riders seems unlikely. CSK is going to experience a difficult period without their old captain. Their aim is only to recover, as they look for their first victory.
