Ambati Rayudu slams CSK for poor planning after five-time champions fall to second consecutive defeat in IPL 2026

A poor beginning, a doubtful strategy and doubts that are already cropping up, yet still there’s hope. Ambati Rayudu, who used to be a key player in the middle order in the Chennai Super Kings line-up, has offered an unbiased opinion about his former team’s performance, following their poor start in IPL 2026. Even though he has acknowledged their faults, he believes that they will come out of their difficulties. CSK has played two matches, and in both of those matches, they’ve looked unsure, particularly when bowling.

According to Rayudu, there were no sharp plans and body language from CSK during their initial games. He remarked, “The season hasn’t ended yet only two matches have been played so far. However, in these two games, Chennai’s planning wasn’t good at all, and their body language didn’t look positive either.”

Nevertheless, he is still optimistic about a revival by emphasizing on the need for improvement and control from the bowlers. The cricketer-turned-commentator added, “Still, I’m hopeful that Chennai will bounce back from here and deliver much better cricket. That said, they really need to rethink their bowling, and their batting needs more intent.”

Bowling remains a concern for CSK

The most significant problem is that of CSK’s bowling strength. They have given away 338 runs in over 30 overs but managed to take only seven wickets. This has led to a loss of control on their part in both games. Even 200+ runs did not provide any safety.

Furthermore, the bad auction choices made by them have been analyzed. Those bowlers, which could have been retained or selected in the auction, have been successful in other teams. However, the substitutes have yet not shown any promising performance or are simply unavailable.

Inconsistency of CSK

On the other hand, the batting of CSK has been promising after their disappointing game against RR. They scored 209 for five against Punjab Kings, which was a decent score to defend. There were several contributors in their batting line-up, who contributed by scoring quickly in the middle and death overs.

But the fact that they could not defend the total highlighted their weaknesses. The opposition had an easy chase and achieved the target within 18.4 overs.

Hopes sustain for CSK

Although CSK lost two consecutive games, there is no negativity prevailing around them. Rayudu’s support shows that they believe in their players’ strength. Their batsmen are also confident. Their problems are evident and solvable.

Now, it’s time to correct themselves soon enough. With some improvement in their bowling and sharper intentions, CSK will be able to bounce back.
