Prince Yadav is a 24-year-old right-arm fast bowler from Ghaziabad in the state of Uttar Pradesh. He plays for Delhi in domestic matches and Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL. He is known for his swing and control, and although still young in his career, has made his mark in big situations.

Early Life and Unusual Beginnings

Prince Yadav’s journey was not in the academies. His journey was in the village fields playing tennis ball cricket. Until the age of 17, he had not even played with a leather ball. His recognition was in the tournaments. He traveled across cities to compete in the tournaments.

But things changed when the local cricketers saw his speed. He was selected for a cricket academy in Najafgarh. There, he learned the basic techniques of the seam and swing of the ball. His speed, which was built from playing tennis ball cricket, was his greatest asset.

Domestic Rise and Setbacks

His cricket career took pace with Delhi. He made his Ranji Trophy debut in January 2024 against Jammu and Kashmir. Although his performance in red-ball cricket is limited, his performance in white-ball cricket is impressive. 

In the Delhi Premier League, he picked 13 wickets from 10 games. His best bowling was 3/15. However, he maintained an economy rate below 8. Later, he emerged as one of the top wicket-takers for Delhi in domestic white-ball cricket. He faced some obstacles as well. Although he was banned for two years, he returned stronger.

IPL Breakthrough and Playing Style

Prince made his IPL debut in 2025 with the Lucknow Super Giants. He played 6 matches and took 3 wickets. Though it was not a remarkable outing, there was promise in his play. Among his notable performances was taking the wicket of Travis Head, his first in IPL.

Prince made an early impact in IPL 2026. In his match against the Delhi Capitals, Prince took crucial wickets, including those of Pathum Nissanka and Axar Patel. This is because Prince has the capability of swinging the ball. Prince’s major strategy is his use of the yorker. This is because Prince comes from a tennis ball background. In addition, Prince has a disciplined approach in terms of line and length.
