Former Pakistani fast bowler and hopefully, not a big talker Tanvir Ahmed has said something interesting and rather captivating (don’t read sarcasm at all) about Babar Azam. The bowler, who’s played a total of 8 internationals for his Pakistan team with 20 wickets, has shared in no uncertain terms the following:
“I will run naked in Lahore if Babar Azam doesn’t hit 6 sixes off Jasprit Bumrah in the T20 World Cup!!”
He is referencing the 2026 T20 World Cup, which one mustn’t forget, isn’t too far away where it stands now.
That being told, make no mistake while Babar Azam is a prominent scorer in the sport’s briefest format with no fewer than 4429 runs as of now at a batting average touching 40, Bumrah has against his name 103 wickets off just 83 contests.
Rather interestingly, while the two are commanders of their respective sphere, Bumrah is no less of an achiever where it comes to the art of going for few runs whilst making a constant impact in the game. Bland praise? Anything but.
His bowling economy of 6.4 in T20I cricket is rather exceptional akin to Babar Azam’s exceptional cover drives. So what is to happen in what lies ahead: Will Babar Azam actually hit one of the finest and most skilled exponents of controlled and accurate fast bowling for six sixes or will the speaker of these passionate words have to eschew what could be wild scenes and perhaps funny ones?
