He’s a seven time world champion, perhaps the finest and most admirable talent to have ever come from Germany in Motorsport’s top flight and someone who’s been a hardcore racer in a world where there are drivers. A personality, a cult, a phenomenon who still is one of the finest adjectives of the phrase determination, and will ever be, alongside the likes of Lauda, Senna and Fangio. The Sir Lewis Hamilton fanboys (respect to LH 44 fans and always) may still not agree and may possibly never will about the greatness of the man called Michael Schumacher. Not that the Stevenage-born’s class and composure can ever be wiped off, let alone debated for the greats are, the greats. But the first man to race to 91 Formula 1 wins (the-then highest number of Grand Prix wins) is a certain Michael Schumacher. Born in North-Rhine Westphalia (Western Germany) to supportive and loving parents who had little other than pure intent, Schumacher with single minded determination reached Formula 1, broke records, rewrote some, and established a reign of supremacy that inspired, broke hearts (of rivals, of course) and birthed dreams.
Here was, still is, a king who ruled the street tracks and circuits, one who aced asphalt and tarmac pretty much everywhere around the world where F1 went. But as with (nearly) every great story, there comes a pinch of sadness, isn’t it? Ditto for Michael Schumacher.
Since his decade long head injury that the former F1 Ferrari and Mercedes driver sustained in the Alps during a freak skiing incident, there had been talks and largely rumours about his health status. Several publications, if junk reportage could be used as the term to define them, even spoke of his demise, which is when he is very much amid us. Michael Schumacher is an emotion and a force unlike anything else the sport has ever seen. Let that not be forgotten and this is no fanboy speak. However, that doesn’t give journalists and writers the right to pen pretty much anything on the legend’s current status. But then it’s no hidden fact that gossip columns and clickbait headlines are pretty much garbage. So that leaves us to wonder just what is the F1 great’s current update as far as his health stands?
Now, here is something that will evoke emotion and may even bring out tears and there’s little anyone can do.
According to News.com.au (based in Australia), Mr. Richard Hopkins, one of Michael Schumacher’s old friends (Former Red Bull Head of Operations) has said the following:
“Racing fans will never see Michael Schumacher again, one of his old friends has predicted. Former Red Bull head of operations Richard Hopkins, who became friends with Schumacher during his racing days, also revealed who is still in the “inner circle” and visits the stricken star regularly. The Formula 1 legend’s condition has been shrouded in total privacy since his devastating ski accident in 2013, and Hopkins doesn’t believe this will ever be lifted. Schumacher, who won seven world championships, was put in a medically induced coma after almost dying in the catastrophic crash, and hasn’t been seen since.”
Ever since that incident, health updates have been non existent but that’s that. Grace dictates, the world should, for now and for times to come, say the following:
Keep Fighting, Michael!
