The finest piece of news, since the term  greatest, is in the zone of myth anyway, is very much here. And it concerns India’s men’s cricket team. Confirmation is there around the one day cricket future of both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma where it comes to the premier ICC event in men’s ODI cricket. So what are we talking about.

No longer does the die hard cricket fan and one for whom cricket isn’t just a subject of everyday life, but life itself, have to worry about two of India’s finest one day stroke makers. For both Virat Kohli as well as Rohit Sharma are going to play till the 2027 ODI World Cup. The news about their retirement- which anyway wasn’t news, but hearsay- stands defunct.

Virat Kohli, on his part, is better known as the King, especially in the one day format having scored 51 centuries in fifty over cricket besides 30 in Tests.

Add the chase master tag that he has deservingly earned. While on the other hand, former captain Rohit Sharma, with no fewer than 3 double centuries in one day international cricket also has on his glowing  resume prized wins such as 2025 ODI Champion’s trophy.

He’s needed, much like Virat Kohli, in a new and young team whose best days are ahead in the future. As it is in the confluence of the experienced and the enterprising where the team’s collective success stands.

Now that the women have lifted their maiden one day World Cup triumph in 50-over Cricket, time has come for the Men’s team to take the plunge towards something they’d be- much like millions of fans- keen to collect. Their last ever title triumph coming back in 2011.

However, there’s one key condition that the revered BCCI has put over both greats of Indian cricket ahead of their participation in the next or forthcoming men’s World Cup. And it’s that both right handers shall have to keep themselves fit and play the domestic format in India.
