Most Hilarious Dismissals and Attempts in Cricket
Here are some of the most hilarious and funny attempts in cricket-
- Steve Smith and Wriddhiman Saha
During the 2017 Test between India and Australia, a bowl from Ravindra Jadeja deflected back in between Steve Smith’s legs and got stuck there. Wriddhiman Saha, the Indian wicketkeeper, noticed the ball was still in play and attempted to grab it. However, the Aussie batter was holding it firmly and went down as Saha tried to get the hold of it. The hilarious scene left everyone, including the umpire in splits.
- Ball Gets Stuck Inside Batter’s Pad at ACC Men’s Premier Cup 2026
In a similar incident, the ball got stuck inside a batter’s pad during the ACC Men’s Premier Cup 2026 clash between Qatar and UAE. The wicketkeeper noticed it but the batter was too quick to notice it and move away.
- Henry Nicholls Catch via Daryl Mitchell and Jack Leach
During the Test between New Zealand and England in 2022, Jack Leach was bowling and Henry Nicholls drove it hard down the ground. At the non-striker’s end, Daryl Mitchell got out of the way but the ball smacked into his bat and went straight to Alex Lees at mid-off. The bowler looked completely shocked and Nicholls walked back after getting dismissed in a bizarre fashion.
- Ian Botham’s Leg-Over Wicket Dismissal
In another such hilarious incident, Ian Botham tried to hook a bouncer from Curtly Ambrose and accidentally dislodged the bails with his right leg during the Oval Test against West Indies in 1991. Commentator Jonathan Agnew spoke on it and said, “He just couldn’t quite get his leg over.”
- Inzamam Ul Haq Falls on Wickets
This remains one of the most hilarious dismissals in cricket, and it took place during the Pakistan and England Test at Headingley in 2006. Monty Panesar bowled and Inzamam Ul Haq aimed for a big sweep. However, he ended up missing the ball and lost the balance to find himself on the stumps.
