Virat Kohli’s Brother Chips Away At Sanjay Manjrekar

Virat Kohli isn’t the one who is interested in talks or lame comments either. In his case, he doesn’t need to speak; it’s his cricket bat that does the talking. As was the case with a glorious 124 off just 108, a fighting century that despite the obvious effort wasn’t enough to take India over the line in the final one day international against New Zealand at Indore. But Kohli’s century wasn’t just a random hit out of the park. Previously in the very same series, he had hit a firm 93 at Vadodara. Even then he didn’t talk; it was the bat that did most of the talking. However, there are quite a few who do like to talk and make a big deal out of things, such as former Indian cricketer turned commentator, Sanjay Manjrekar who was counter punched by Virat Kohli‘s brother, the doting sibling who reserved a choicest rebuke in the aftermath of King Kohli’s brilliant century, his seventh for India versus NZ in international cricket. Virat Kohli’s brother happened to share the following:

“I wonder if Mr Expert of Cricket has some suggestions for the easiest form of cricket. You need to be there to do that. Anyways, as I said, easier said than done. Such an easy format isn’t it … someone gave his gyaan a few days back… easier said than done..”

Having said that, it is important to reflect upon what Sanjay Manjrekar had said in the context of Virat Kohli and his appearance in the one day international format earlier, much prior to the final one day against New Zealand:

“Well, as Joe Root attains new heights in Test cricket, my mind goes to Virat Kohli. He’s walked away from Tests, and it’s unfortunate that in the five years that he struggled before retiring, he didn’t quite put his heart and soul into finding out the problems as to why he was averaging 31 for five years in Tests. That is for another time as to what he could have done. It was okay, Virat Kohli just walked away from cricket, retired from all cricket. But that he’s chosen to play one-day cricket actually disappoints me more, because this is a format which, for a top-order batter, I’ve said before as well, is the easiest format.”
