There is no doubt in the fact that Summer Transfer Window will be as chaotic as ‘Game of Throne’s plot’ because of the coronavirus outbreak. Football across the world has come to a standstill as the current season has been suspended indefinitely.
The current phase has disallowed the board members of the European clubs to sit down with the pen and paper, granting the big names from their clubs to list themselves as free transfers in the summer transfer window.
Even though FIFA cannot legally extend contracts, they can ensure that no new signed deals are ratified before the 2019-2020 season is concluded. Emilio Garcia was quoted by The Sun saying, “FIFA cannot extend the contracts beyond June 30 but the summer transfer window will not be the same due to the delay in the schedule. The transfer market will not open on July 1 and for the players whose contract deals expiring on June 30 will be offered short-term contracts until the season starts again.”
The best thing to happen for a club is signing a free agent and when the player is amongst the best in the game, they are in for a lottery. The same happened for Manchester United when Zlatan Ibrahimovic joined the Reds on a free transfer. The current pandemic has left no options for some players than to be listed in the summer transfer window as free agents and the list includes a few club legends and some of the finest players in the world.
Olivier Giroud

Olivier Giroud used to be an Arsenal striker until he joined the rival club, Chelsea. Since he arrived at Chelsea, the player has been backlashed by the fans of both the clubs and has found it difficult to settle with the Blues. The player was keen on leaving the club in the January transfer window but the deal failed mid-way due to the price asked by Chelsea.
In the current situation, Giroud is more of a liability than an asset for the London club and now that he will be a free agent, Chelsea would like the player to leave for any club he wants. Inter Milan has shown a lot of interest in the player but the recent reports confirm that the player wants Chelsea to offer him a contract extension. He is in the last phase of his career and not many clubs have shown interest in him so it needs to be seen what the future holds for the French striker.
David Silva

Amongst the players listed as free agents, the one name that will move out of his previous club is David Silva. The player has completed 10 years of service for Machester City and his run has been nothing short of a miracle for the club. The Spaniard was one of the most influential figures in Pellegrini’s XI as well as Guardiola’s XI. David Silva is one of the finest playmakers in the world but he wants to shift to a club near hometown to spend some quality time with his family.
In an interview with ESPN last year, David Silva said that he would like to end his career playing for Las Palmas, the hometown club on the island of Gran Canaria. David Beckham wants him to play for his club Inter Miami and there have been linkup rumours of player shifting to wither Qatar or Japan. Although 33, David Silva has a lot of potential and his skills make him one of the finest playmakers of Spain.
Willian

The No. 10 jersey holder in the Chelsea squad, Willian is one of the few underrated footballers of the Premier League. Despite scoring some of the finest goals for the Blues, Willian has not been able to make it to the top pool of players in the Premier League. The Brazilian forward has exploited his skills irrationally and is one of the few players who can easily score a goal from a freekick spot 50-60 yards away.
Chelsea needs to be quick on closing their contracts with Willian and Pedro unless they want to lose these two players to the rival clubs. The linkup rumours between Willian and Arsenal are quite strong and reports were suggesting Willian’s desire to move from the club. Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is keener on signing Coutinho and PSG are eyeing the right-winger. Willian’s open contract has left him with linkups with various clubs and once he becomes a free agent it will be up to him to join any club he wants but there are chances he could move to Tottenham to play under his ex-manager Jose Mourinho.
Edinson Cavani

The Uruguay striker and PSG’s leading goal-scorer, Edinson Cavani has been looking for a way out since the arrival of Neymar and was close to joining Atletico Madrid in the Winter Transfer window. The deal went haywire as the prize money demanded by PSG was too much for Atletico to spend on a player with 6 months of the contract. One of the underrated strikers in the world, Cavani’s stay at PSG couldn’t take the best out of him and at the age of 33, the club legend is finally looking for a way out.
His position was under scrutiny since the day Neymar arrived and this was visible on the field as the two made an ample amount of headlines. With Neymar, Mbappe and Di Maria settling in the club, the striker failed to make it to the playing 11 quite often this year and he went from being the central figure of PSG’s attack to a bench warmer. He has a lot left in him and he can’t waste his potential by warming the bench at the French Club.
There is a lot of news around Cavani’s transfers and the recent rumours suggests of a potential association with Premier League clubs. A few reports suggest that this could be the last step of his career and there are chances that he may move to the MLS or back to his home country. However, there are chances that the forward may join a top-tier Premier League club during the summer transfer window before calling it shots.
